abstract

in forging design the significant parameters are maximum load or energy which are required for the selection of forging press or hammer. these two parameters are varied by the other paramelers such as the geometry of die cavity, flash dimensions, shape of the work piece, friction, mechanical properties of the metal to be forged, temperature, strain rate, and number of the forging operation. the aim of the present paper is the introduction of a method mamed upper bound elemental technique which takes into account all of the above parameters and predicts the optimum forging load, energy, and flash dimensions by the aid of a computer. as the method is also able to predict the metal flow in die cavity, number of the forging operation, and shape of the preform, it can be used for the design of forging dies.

An Overview of Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) in Restorative Dentistry

Objective: To review the current knowledge of CAD/CAM in dentistry and its development in the mentioned field. Sources: An electronic search was conducted across Ovid Medline, complemented by manual search across individual databases, such as Cochrane, Medline and ISI Web of Science databases and Google Scholar for literature analysis on the mentioned topic. The studies were reviewed thoroughly...

Classifications and Properties of Materials for Chairside Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing Dentistry: A Review

Background and Aim: Chairside computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems have become considerably more accurate, reliable, efficient, fast, and prevalent since 1985 when CEREC was introduced. The inceptive restorative material option for chairside CAD/CAM restorations was limited to ceramic blocks. Today, restorative material options have been multiplied and include me...

Computer Aided Ferret Design

In this paper, we explore several extensions to surface pasting. In particular, using the task of modelling a ferret as a driving force, we improved the user interface for cylindrical pasting; we looked at methods for reducing the distortion of pasted features; and we created a method for pasting trimmed features to allow for features that do not have the rectilinear shape of standard pasting.

Computer Aided Database Design

For all DBMS-based software systems, a good database design is the key to perfonnance. Nevertheless the necessity to support this important task by adequate methods and comfortable tools has been neglected up to now. As a consequence at least one generation of computer progranuners fought the battle for necessary perf0J111anCe which was already lost in the beginning, lost by design. Facing this...

Computer-aided antibody design

Recent clinical trials using antibodies with low toxicity and high efficiency have raised expectations for the development of next-generation protein therapeutics. However, the process of obtaining therapeutic antibodies remains time consuming and empirical. This review summarizes recent progresses in the field of computer-aided antibody development mainly focusing on antibody modeling, which i...

Technology Computer-Aided Design

Computer simulation is an indispensable tool for the design of new VLSI devices. Besides the progress in physical models and computational techniques which has dominated technology computer aided design (TCAD) in the past, purely software-related aspects are attracting increasing attention and will become a crucial issue for future developments in this field.
